Admin Console

Fundamentals for the Administration of Your Site

Your Actinic site's admin console is an online application that you access using a simple Internet browser.

As with a classic application, the Actinic system uses a standard navigation logic:
  • 1) You are going to navigate through your admin console using the links in the Home Page Dashboard and your site's Drop-Down Menus.

The Dashboard is the home page of the admin console. It allows you to rapidly access the functionalities that are used most often in the back office: Order management, site design editing, item entry, etc.

These same pages are also accessible via the horizontal drop-down menus. These "shortcuts" are provided for experienced users, as well as beginners by offering them a "panorama" of the main functionalities offered by the Actinic solution.

  • 2) These links are going to redirect you to the different pages that are each going to allow you to edit a specific functionality, Component, in your site. After clicking on one of the links, you will have access to all of the parameters allowing you to configure that specific component.

  • 3) These components are managed by basic parameters, called Properties, and can often contain different Elements, which can be organized into Categories.

The Tabs allow you to navigate between the different "families" of parameters. They are present in most of the components in the following menus: Galleries, Commerce, Components, Marketing and Account.

  • 4) The Buttons are easily identifiable by their orange color and allow you to access and modify different parameters. Each time you modify parameters in your Actinic site, you must confirm your changes by clicking on [Save]. When a page has a lot of information in it and takes up more than the height of the screen, certain buttons are located at the top and bottom of the screen for easy access. You can click on either button to perform the desired action.

  • 5) You also have buttons allowing you to create new elements and to navigate through the different pages displaying these elements. You can filter through these elements by defining certain criteria in the text zone above each column. A [Filter] button allows you to access search and advanced filtering options.

When several elements are available in a component, they are displayed in table form. At the end of each row in the table, you will find a set of icons independently relating to each listed elements.

  • 6) You can access the main parameters of an element by clicking on the [View Properties] or [Edit Properties] icon in the row containing that element.

NB: The [View Properties] button should not be completely abandoned for exclusive use of the [Edit Properties] button because certain functionalities are ONLY accessible when viewing, and not editing, the Properties (most notably the possibility of deleting an element, adding additional images, up/cross-selling, etc.).

You can edit and view the properties of these elements by navigating through the pages using the specific Tabs and Sub-Tabs provided. By clicking on " + ", you can access all of the parameters of an element on a single page.

 Administration Menu

The administration's drop-down menu is organized using a specific logic, different than that of the dashboard:
  • Home: Sends you to the dashboard.

  • Site: Allows you to configure the general parameters of your site, the site design and everything concerning "the data area" of your site: header, panels, menus, shortcut blocks, etc.

  • Galleries: Concerns all of the files and images that you import into your site, as well as all of the static pages (WebBlocks) that you create.

  • Commerce: Displays the functionalities related to sales: items, shop, catalog, payment methods, shipping options, discounts, order tracking, etc.

  • Components: Regroups all of the "dynamic" parts of your site that are connected to your commercial activity. "Dynamic" means that the page layout is automatically generated by the solution and can be easily modified and updated from your admin console. Sometimes, as is the case with the Guest Book or Classified Ads component, the content in these components can be entered by your visitors.

  • Marketing: Concerns everything related to search engine optimization, promoting your site and your user account base (prospects and customers).

  • Account: Allows you to view and modify all of the information relating to your subscription with Actinic: Payment properties, subscription, billing, domain names, email, detailed statistics concerning traffic on your site.

  • Help: Groups the tools provided for making the solution easier to use. In this section, you can access our online knowledge base, contact our technical support team in writing (free and unlimited), use our tax calculation wizard, use our hyperlink wizard to generate hyperlinks, etc.

 To-Do List

The To-Do list is displayed below the home page dashboard. It can be opened or closed using the small button in the upper right-hand corner of the corresponding section.

When working on the different elements and components in your site, you can individually define their states of progress. Defining these states of progress is going to allow you to "hide" unfinished elements from your visitors and keep track of the tasks that need to be completed in your site.

More details are available in the following online help topic: States of Progress

Only the components where work needs to be completed are displayed in the To-Do list. By clicking on the Browse [...] button to the right of each component in the To-Do list, you will be automatically redirected to the element marked as needing further work.

 Preview and Support Buttons

The Preview icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page allows you to preview your site in a new window whenever desired.

The Support button allows you to ask your questions to technical support if you're feeling "stuck" at any time in the site creation process. However, you will find the answers to many of your questions in our online help center. Therefore, we ask that you consult the help center before going through tech support. You can use the internal search engine to help you find the answer you're looking for. You can access the online help center by clicking on the [Help > Help Center] menu.

 Subscription Options

You have access to the same admin console, no matter what subscription package you've chosen. When you try to edit a component, the system will simply indicate if it is not available with your subscription package.

Even when not included in your subscription, you are able to configure most of the functionalities offered by the solution and test them using the Preview button.
