Time to Read: 10 minutes
Time to Do: 5 minutes (for the first element)
Difficulty Level: 1/5
Prerequisites: Understand the idea of a component, think about what information should be featured.
 Introduction :

Menus are the simplest way to organize your site's navigation. They're easy to put in place and very useful for your visitors because menus are always visible no matter what page is displayed and lets them navigate instantly without having to return to another page.
 Our Advice :

Our system has three menus: a horizontal menu, a vertical menu and a footer menu. We advise you to organize your menu elements according to their importance:

  • Horizontal Menu: all elements related to sales (Shopping Cart, customer's account)
  • Vertical Menu: information (Hot News, FAQ, Hot Links) as well as specialized catalogue entries (categories, flagship products)
  • Footer Menu: Useful, but less essential information (your adddress, your terms & conditions).

     Configure your menus

    1. Go to the [Site \ Menus \ All Menus] menu

    2. Create a menu element
Place your pointer on an existing element of the desired menu (horizontal, vertical, footer) and select "Add a new menu element" in the context menu that appears.

    3. You can now configure your menu element:
    a. Choose the type of element you want to add (for this example, we'll choose a "Text" element).

    b. Enter the name of your element (in this example, we're going to create a link to a professional blog).

    c. Insert a link to your blog. This hyperlink will let your visitors access your professional blog.

    - To do so, click on the browse [...] button in the "Navigation Behavior" area.

    - A "pop-up" window will open to let you choose the action to be applied to your menu element. We'll choose "Display one of the site components".

    - Select the "Blog" component.

    - You may then decide to display all blog elements, a category of elements, a specific element or the search page. Here we're going to propose all elements of the component.

    6. You can also reorganize your menu elements using the context menus that open when mousing over. For example you can move your element (blog in our example) to the vertical menu without having to recreate it.

    - You just need to use the cut function in your horizontal menu…

    - And then paste it into your vertical menu.

    - Your element is now present in your site's vertical menu.

    7. If necessary, you can add sub-menus to your menu elements.
    - To do so, mouse over the element and select "Add a sub-menu".

    8. Going further:

    - You can manage your menu elements by language when offering an international site (six languages are available in our system - English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, and Dutch).
